Character Application
Character Name [Canonly Written]: Marron Glace
Series: Bakuretsu Hunters
Gender: Male
The Item: His sword (I assume it was on him when he left, as it always is on him, and therefore he would need to bring it back)
Point with which your character has been taken from canon: The end of the manga (Volume 13)
Personality: Marron's personality can be a kind of fickle thing. In general, he's what you would refer to as "impressively reserved." His facial expression is typically completely expressionless, and he's more likely to frown than smile save for a few select people. He's frequently described as calm and "difficult to read." That's not to say he's an unpleasant man-- he's just carved out this life for himself that's rather simple to define. He doesn't branch out and take risks much unless it's clearly worth it. As an example, he'd rather stay indoors and meditate or practice his caligraphy-- but if his brother's in trouble he's the first one on his feet and rushing head-first into a plan to rescue him. A lot of this comes from his childhood with his brother, which I'll branch out on in the history section.

On first meeting he's likely to show no positive or negative emotion towards another character at all, as his affections-- and on the flip side, his anger-- are typically slow to accumulate. He takes time to think about a person's character, a culmination of all of his experiences with the person along with the occasional word of mouth reccomendation or dissuasion, provided they're from a credible source, and comes up with a calculated opinion of the person. Once this conclusion has been reached it's nigh impossible to get him to change his mind. Marron is stubborn to a fault, and coupled with loyalty issues of a similar vein, get him into more trouble than anything else.

That being said, once he's decided to warm up to you, he shifts entirely. He'll smile warmly, greet you with kind words, and go out of his way to assist you in any way he can. Marron's friends are few and therefore incredibly precious to him. Likewise he's no wilting flower, either. If you've managed to get on his bad side he'll more or less avoid you, but hurt one of his few friends and he has no qualms doing what's necessary to protect them. .. whether or not his friends ask for/want it in the first place.

Given his personality, he's incredibly resistant to change. He'll adapt as he must, of course, but he'll grumble the whole way. Marron loves a nice consistent base to his life-- though since he's been to Veles before he won't be as irritable as he was the first time. Changes in his room, in the people he knew before versus who is here now-- that, he will react quite poorly to. He doesn't make social ties easily, and for him it'll literally feel like having to start a monumentally draining task all over again.

Powers/Abilities CANON: His most predominant ability is that of his sword use; he's a master swordsman to the point of it being a little ridiculous, as described in his canon-- he actually sparred with a god once and won, though he very rarely uses the skill. He's also a master of what they call Eastern style magic; think Tsuzuki from Yami no Matsuei, the various spirit beasts he can summon like Suzaku combined with Sailor Mars's little scribbled spirit summoning/banishing papers. Bits of rice paper he writes characters on and are used from anything ranging from casting fire to banishing ghosts. This extends to healing abilities as well.
Powers/Abilities AU: His sword skills shouldn't be effected since they're not magically based, but as per before I would half his spiritual abilities-- he wouldn't be able to completely heal someone with the snap of his fingers, but he may be able to halfway heal someone though it'd be twice as taxing on him to do so. Offensive magic spells would only be half as effective, spells like banishing spirits or sealing people or things would only work halfway, or be twice as easy to break depending on the application. As for his larger potentially devistating summons, I'd say that if he could summon them at all (depending on his energy levels and focus that day) it'd only maintain for a couple of seconds before he'd pass out from the drain.
History: Marron Glace was born and raised on St. Hordic mountain, the haven of the Sorcerer Hunters. Sorcerer Hunters do just that-- hunt down Sorcerers. In their world there are ordinary people, called the Parsoners, and the magic-users, the Sorcerers. Marked by the triangles on their foreheads, many Sorcerers dominate, exploit, torment, murder, and enslave the Parsoners of the Spooner Continent, the continent they're all from. It's the job of the Sorcerer Hunters to eliminate both Sorcerers and elements of Forbidden Magic to protect humans from both.

Marron's the younger of two brothers-- a source of often comic disbelief as he looks much older and more mature than his brother, Carrot, who is in fact one year his senior. Their father is Onion Glace, who was not only a member of the Haz nights -- an incredibly elite branch of the best and brightest of the Sorcerer Hunters -- but an elite even within this group. He resigned, however, to settle down with his wife Apricot and raise his two sons. Whereas Carrot takes more after his father in looks and personality (a little frazzled looking, but headstrong and a complete pervert), Marron tended to take more after their mother, landing him squarely in place as their father's favorite as their mother passed away at some unspecified time in their childhood timeline. There are comic references involving Marron worrying about how much his father planned on obsessing over his resemblance to his mother, and how "zealous" his intentions seemed to be.

Growing up, Marron was constantly picked on for this very resemblance. More to the point he was effeminate to the point of being mistaken for an actual woman, with delicate features, pale skin, and long, silky black hair. Canonly it's also very strongly implied that he's gay, and that was another primary source of the bullying (though he never shows actual interest in relationships of any kind-- more disgust at women and eyerolls at flirtatous overtures by men. He's not interested in romance in general, despite his preferences). Despite his silliness and constant lechery, though, Carrot was an amazing older brother-- constantly looking after Marron, saving him from being bullied and beating up anyone who dared pick on his younger brother. This fostered a near obsession of Marron's do to the same for Carrot for the rest of his life.

He and his brother, along with two childhood friends -- sisters -- named Tira and Chocolate Mousse became Sorcerer Hunters, a challenging task that consisted of traveling the world to eliminate all Sorcerers. Another man named Gateau joined them as well, much to Marron's annoyance as he's constantly stripping and flexing in an effort to impress Marron with his masculinity.

All forms of magic-- saved those that are "learned" magics such as the Easter style Marron uses-- are illegal. To possess and use these abilities is a capital crime, and typically the offenders are executed by a team such as Marron's. The Sorcerer Hunters are arranged by the Stella Church, the ruling political/religious organization in their world, and headed by Big Mama. She's the one who issues their assignments, telling them which Sorcerer they are hunting for which particular mission.

In addition to his magical support and occasional magical support, Marron's role consists primarily of looking after his brother. He's the first to leap into danger when Carrot's safety is at risk, the first to volunteer on rescue missions and the first to need restraining when neither is the wisest course of action. Very little comes between Marron and his brother.

At the end of the series, Carrot settles down and has children with BOTH Tira and Chocolate, and Marron lives seemingly on his own nearby, equal parts annoyed and amused by his brother's continued antics.
RP Sample [First Person]: .. well, this is.. startlingly familiar. /He frowns, glancing around and clutching the all-too familiar ID bracelet and ticket in one hand, his sword out and ready at his side as he wanders about./

/He sighs/

At least I know where I'm going this time. Though.. /he squints at his assigned housing information/ I don't believe this is where I was placed last time. /murmuring distractedly/ I should go and see if any of my things are left..

/Shivering a bit, he hugs his free arm across his chest-- and stops dead, eyes going a little wide/

How long have I been gone? /He actually curses a bit/ I must see to the clinic. Al will be furious with me.
RP Sample [Third Person]: [Necessary if a History was not written. Minimum 300 words]

Why do you play this character? I love writing Marron. He's a lot of fun, and I'm going to especially enjoy throwing him back into the fray of D_F, where he will have retained his previous memories as well.

INTIMATE:

Mille: The only other person here from his world, initially the two stuck together. Marron isn't too social, so he mostly relied on Mille for company. Via a tricky arranged "date" that Maes secretly orchestrated, the two have been dating since Valentines Day.

FRIENDS:

Alphonse Elric: A nice man, and his only real friend to date in Veles. He finds he has a lot in common with Al, from being the youngest brother who constantly worries and cleans up after the older brother to enjoying relaxing in a calm, quiet atmosphere with a cup of tea. They're also both healers, so they find themselves working together frequently with the need for medical aide arises.

ACQUAINTANCES:

Ryuzaki, "L": A very calm fellow he enjoys the company of. Not loud, like so many others here.

Edward Elric: Al's brother and Marron's classmate. He's only met him a few times, particularly when Mille picks up Ed before school to make sure he goes. Seems nice enough, if a bit loud.

Maes Hughes: He seems fairly nice. Was polite to them when they first arrived, also seems to be a good friend of Mille's. He's not aware of it, but it's thanks to Maes's shenanigans that he and Mille got together to begin with.

Himura Kenshin: A fellow swordsman and Al's boyfriend. Marron doesn't know him well, but would enjoy sparring with him sometime.
